Venice has over 100 free drinking fountains (<em>fontanelle<\/em>) throughout the city<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wear comfortable shoes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check the last ferry back to <strong>Punta Sabbioni<\/strong> before you leave (last boats run late but not 24 hours)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best time to go<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Punta Sabbioni ferry<\/strong> runs year-round, so you can visit at any time. That said, summer has the biggest crowds both at the ferry terminal and in Venice itself. July and August are peak months, and the boats fill up quickly, especially the first morning departures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">May, June and September are arguably the best months for this trip. The weather is warm, the ferry runs frequently, and Venice is noticeably less overwhelming. These fill up quickly in July and August, so arriving by 9 am in peak season is best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parking costs vary by season, with summer rates typically running higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remember that driving into Venice itself isn&#8217;t possible;<strong> the city has no internal roads<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leaving the car at the peninsula and taking the ferry is much cheaper and less stressful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The peninsula around <strong>Punta Sabbioni<\/strong> is worth spending time at even if Venice isn&#8217;t your only stop.
