Just down the road from Caorle: how to get to Porto Santa Margherita<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If you\u2019re travelling by car<\/strong> to Porto Santa Margherita, the most convenient motorway exits are San Stino di Livenza on the A4 motorway<\/strong> if you\u2019re coming from Venice, or Portogruaro<\/strong> if you\u2019re coming from Austria\/Trieste. From both of these two exits, the best option is to follow the signs for Caorle. Once you get to Caorle, you just need to head west for 2 km to get to Porto Santa Margherita. It takes approximately 30 minutes from both San Stino di Livenza and Portogruaro.<\/p>\n

Caorle doesn\u2019t have a train station. If you\u2019re travelling by train<\/strong>, you should get off at Portogruaro-Caorle station<\/strong>, where you\u2019ll find lots of buses run by the local company ATVO<\/strong>. As well as connecting Portogruaro station with Caorle town centre, many of them also go through Porto Santa Margherita.<\/p>\n

You can also easily get to Porto Santa Margherita by bus<\/strong> from San Don\u00e0 di Piave, Portogruaro, Mestre or Venice by taking one of the ATVO lines<\/strong> to Caorle.
\nIn addition, roughly once an hour a local bus (number 97) runs between Porto Santa Margherita and Caorle. You can buy tickets at the station or on board.
\nIt takes just 15 minutes to get to Caorle from Porto Santa Margherita by bike, or you can walk there in approximately 40 minutes. If you\u2019d like to walk to Caorle, we recommend the handy ferry on the Livenza river<\/strong>, which can also carry bicycles.<\/p>\n

The nearest airports<\/strong> to Caorle are Venice and Treviso<\/strong>. You can take an ATVO bus from both of them to Porto Santa Margherita. Alternatively, you can hire a car in the airport: see the RentalCars website.<\/p>\n

Another option that we\u2019d recommend is the practical GoOpti transfer service<\/strong><\/a>. You can get great deals and save money if you share the journey with other people.<\/p>\n

The town centre<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As well as numerous aparthotels, apartments, villas and hotels, Porto Santa Margherita<\/strong> has a very nice central pedestrian area <\/strong>that is lined with lots of trees, shops, gathering places and amusement arcades, as well as pizzerias, bars and restaurants where you can eat delicious fresh fish and other Veneto specialities<\/strong> and sip fragrant wines from the region.<\/p>\n

Sport<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Sports lovers can take part in a wide range of activities in the sea (such as sailing,<\/strong> swimming, jet skiing, surfing, canoeing<\/strong>) and on the land (such as cycling, basketball and tennis<\/strong>). There are no fewer than five tennis courts with floodlights, meaning they can be used both in the day and in the evening. Enthralling tournaments are often organized on them.
\nIn addition, Porto Santa Margherita has an outstanding heated indoor pool<\/strong> that\u2019s open in the winter as well as the summer.<\/p>\n

Nearby attractions to visit<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A short distance from Porto Santa Margherita is Ca\u2019 Corniani<\/strong>, a rural centre<\/strong> that lies between the Livenza River and the Brian Canal. As well as visiting the old manor house and the lodgings for sharecroppers and tenant farmers, you can enjoy nibbles and the excellent wine made there. The countryside is a marvellous place for bike rides<\/strong>. You can either bring your own bicycles or hire them there.<\/p>\n

Another interesting place to visit is the tiny village of San Gaetano<\/strong> near Caorle, which has just 150 inhabitants. It was once home to the barons<\/strong> of the noble Franchetti family<\/strong>, who made it into a centre of agriculture and livestock farming.
