Why Baia Blu Beach is One of Veneto’s Six Award-winning Beach Clubs

Baia Blu Beach Veneto

If you are planning a holiday on the Veneto coast, Baia Blu Beach is a must-visit.

In this article, we will share how to reach the beach, what the beach club actually offers, what to do nearby, and when to visit. You will find practical transport notes, a packing checklist, and an honest look at the pros and cons, so you can plan your best holiday!

What is Baia Blu Beach?

Baia Blu Beach is a modern lido near Lido Altanea, roughly 4 km from the historic centre of Caorle in the Province of Venice.

This is a fully equipped beach club, with around 500 umbrellas and roughly 1,000 sunbeds, plus a cocktail bar and a beachfront restaurant. It has earned a Blue Flag for water quality and environmental standards.

Its bar was named “Best Beverage Beach Club Veneto 2024” in the national guide to Italy’s best beach clubs, one of only six establishments recognised in the region that year.

Location and how to get to Baia Blu Veneto

Baia Blu Beach is located near Lido Altanea, between Porto Santa Margherita and Duna Verde, a short walk from the Pareus Beach Resort.

  • By car: Take the A4 motorway and exit at San Stino di Livenza or San Donà di Piave, then follow signs for Caorle and Porto Santa Margherita. Three parking areas serve the beach, and there is a supermarket close by.
  • By public transport: ATVO runs seasonal bus services that connect Caorle, Porto Santa Margherita, and, in summer, Lido Altanea and Duna Verde. Timetables are on the ATVO website.
  • By bike or on foot: Cycle paths link Altanea with Porto Santa Margherita, Caorle, and Eraclea. The Caorle on Bike e-bike sharing scheme has a station at the Porto Santa Margherita car park.
  • By ferry: From May to September, a ferry crosses the Livenza between Caorle and Porto Santa Margherita and takes bikes, which makes for a scenic approach.

If you are staying in Lido Altanea itself, you may be able to reach the sand via the free shuttle train that runs between the villages and the beach throughout the day, which is popular with children and saves moving the car.

Services and facilities at the beach club

At Baia Blu Beach, you can choose the spot that best suits your day. Pick from a dedicated Family Area, a Pet Area for dogs, or the adults-only Silence Zone for quiet. You can also book a cabana for added comfort, or the central Luxury Cabana, which includes an exclusive table, soft towels on arrival, and the option of king-size sunbeds, available until 7 pm unless you stay to dine.

  • Sunbeds, umbrellas, and beachfront gazebos
  • 15 cabanas plus one central Luxury Cabana
  • A cocktail bar and a beachfront restaurant
  • Free hot showers (covered) and cold outdoor showers
  • Lifeguard and rescue service
  • Pet Area with a dedicated water zone, a bed under the umbrella, and a welcome kit for dogs
  • Live music and events; the venue also hosts weddings and private parties

Exploring the surrounding area

The historic centre of Caorle, with its colourful houses, fishermen’s casoni and the Madonna dell’Angelo sanctuary on the seafront, is a short trip away and good for an evening stroll or shopping. Alternatively, Porto Santa Margherita has a marina and a lively cluster of restaurants and bars.

  • Caorle old town: pastel streets, the seafront sanctuary, and waterfront walks
  • Pra’ delle Torri Golf Club: an 18-hole course near Lido Altanea
  • Sporting Club Lido Altanea: tennis, beach volleyball, five-a-side, mini golf, and more
  • Venice, Murano, and Burano: reachable for a day trip by boat or train
  • Treviso, Padua, and Verona: inland cultural towns within easy reach by train
  • Coastal walks: from the Baja Blanca area, you can follow the shore past Baia Blu and into the green park behind it, where there is a small lake with ducks and swans
