If you’re planning a family holiday on the Adriatic coast and looking for something genuinely memorable beyond sunbathing and gelato, you’ve come to the right place.
In this guide, we’ll take you aboard La Perla Nera. The legendary pirate ship has become a popular attraction along the Venetian Riviera.
What is the La Perla Nera Pra delle Torri?
La Perla Nera is a full-sized pirate galleon operating along the northern Adriatic coast of the Veneto region, and is cherished by Italian and international families visiting the area.
Captain Andrea and his crew, who welcome you on board for an unforgettable adventure on the Adriatic Sea. Think sword fights, water games, face painting, group dances on deck, and a welcome toast. The total adventure lasts about two hours and takes you along the coastline.
Discover La Perla Nera
La Perla Nera Pra delle Torri operates across two main coastal areas, between Caorle and Bibione. Both cities are located in the Veneto region of north-east Italy, roughly 60–80 km from Venice. You reach the ship with an inflatable raft, which comes to pick you up from the seashore, and then the adventure begins on board.

Caorle schedule
Departures from Caorle depart every Tuesday and Thursday.

At Bibione, the ship departs three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The afternoon session at around 16:30 is particularly popular, as it lets families enjoy a full day on the beach before ending the day with the pirate show on board, sailing back close to sunset.

Exploring Bibione and Caorle, and other nearby attractions
One of the great advantages of a holiday centred around La Perla Nera is that it sits between two of the Veneto’s most charming seaside destinations.
Caorle is a picturesque fishing village with a historic centre, colourful houses stacked along narrow canals, and a distinctive cylindrical 11th-century cathedral bell tower. The Santuario della Madonna dell’Angelo, one of La Perla Nera‘s own pick-up points, is a seafront sanctuary worth visiting. The weekly market, fish restaurants along the waterfront, and the open-air sculpture park on the beach are all highlights.
Bibione, on the other hand, is one of the largest and most family-friendly resorts on the Adriatic, known for its extraordinary sandy beach, its thermal spa, and pine forest. The Bibione lighthouse at Punta Tagliamento is a must-see, and the lagoon area, which La Perla Nera actually sails through on its Bibione routes, is a stunning natural park.
Day-trip options from the area:
- Venice: Approximately 70 km; perfect for a cultural day out
- Marano Lagunare: a quiet lagoon village great for nature lovers
- Aquafollie water park (Caorle): ideal for older children and teenagers
- Prosecco Hills (UNESCO): about 80 km inland; vineyards and villages
When is the best time to visit?
The best time to visit depends on your priorities. June is a great choice if you prefer a quieter atmosphere and pleasant weather, though some services may not yet be fully open for the season.
July and August are when the full La Perla Nera programme functions, though these are the busiest months, so arriving at your boarding point early is essential.
Early September is the ideal balance! The Adriatic is still warm, crowds have thinned considerably, and the pace is more relaxed, though some of the special evening events will be winding down by this point.
